Forex Trading Sessions & Best Times to Trade

The Forex market operates 24 hours a day, five days a week, because it involves countries across different time zones. The market opens on Sunday evening (US Eastern Time) and closes on Friday evening. The major trading sessions are:

Sydney Session (Asia-Pacific): The market "wakes up" in Sydney, Australia. This is when trading starts for the day, and it’s mostly focused on currencies from countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

Tokyo Session (Asia): Next, the market gets busier when Tokyo, Japan, opens. This is a big time for trading currencies like the Japanese yen.

London Session (Europe): Then, the action moves to Europe when London, UK, opens. This is one of the busiest times because lots of big banks and traders are active, and currencies like the British pound and euro are traded a lot.

New York Session (North America): Finally, the market shifts to New York, USA. This is another super busy time because the US dollar is the most traded currency in the world.

After New York closes, the cycle starts all over again in Sydney. The market is only closed on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), but during the week, it’s always open somewhere in the world. This means you can trade currencies almost anytime, day or night!
